The more images the better.
While photographs and images do add a lot to a website, you need to use images sparingly. The big problem with images is that they can cause your website to load slowly on a user’s web browser. The rule of thumb is that if your website doesn’t load within ten seconds, the user will leave your site, before they even see the home page. The image file type is also important. Make sure all the images on your website are either saved as a .jpg or .gif. Also any image you use on your website should be under 30K in size.
Your website must use Flash.
There is no doubt that flash animation adds a lot to a website, but you need to ask yourself if it is necessary for your website. If you are a technology company, you will probably want to employ some kind of flash animation on your website. On the other hand, if your website is an online sales site selling knitting supplies, flash would probably be unnecessary, and perhaps, even a little distracting to the customers who would visit your site. There is also a question of slower connection speeds; if a user is still using a dialup connection, flash animation will take a long time to load.
The more color the better.
Unfortunately, many web designers believe that more color creates more interest. But nothing could be further from the truth. When it comes to color, you should focus on 2-3 colors on which to base your site, and those colors should reflect your brand identity. And most importantly, the colors you choose should not in any way hinder the user’s ability to read the text on your site.
